The Copywriter Come True

Turning Your E-zine into a Profit

Turning Your E-zine into a Profit

Ezine ProfitsIf you’ve got thousands of subscribers, and few of them turn into sales, you’re probably considering trashing the whole e-zine idea. After all, it takes time and money to keep one going, and if either are limited (are they ever unlimited?) you want to keep your resources aimed at something with a higher return.

It’s not time to give up. It’s time to reevaluate your e-zine strategy…and the best place to start is at the beginning. How are you attracting people to your newsletter? Who are your subscribers? Are you attracting someone who uses your product or service, or are you attracting someone who sells something similar. Would my newsletter help me at all if I attracted other copywriters?

One of the biggest mistakes some companies make, is trading a mini-course on their expertise in exchange for an email address. If people are reading courses telling them how to do something themselves, then they’re obviously not interested in hiring someone for the job. So instead of giving away a DIY course, try giving away an actual product. One similar or related to what you’re already selling. I (for example) could give away a 300 word article for every sign up. I wouldn’t, but I could…and it would attract the perfect crowd.

So if you’re marveling at the long list of E-zine subscribers, and then scratching your head when it doesn’t turn out a profit, start asking yourself who you’re writing for.
